Most South Florida backyards are fenced on all sides with a side yard too narrow to walk a finished shed through. Dealers deliver to the driveway and stop there, which leaves the homeowner staring at a building that cannot reach the spot it was bought for.
A crane turns that into a twenty-minute problem. We pick the shed off the delivery trailer or the driveway, take it over the roofline, and set it square on the pad. No panels come off, no fence sections come out, and nothing gets dragged across the grass.
What we need to know first
- Size and weight. Footprint and dry weight off the dealer spec. Resin and metal sheds are light; a finished wood or concrete-board building can run well past a ton.
- What we have to clear. The roofline is the usual obstacle, but pool cages, screen enclosures, awnings and power lines all change the pick.
- Where the truck can sit. Driveway or street frontage. The further the pad is from where we can park, the more reach we need.
- Is the pad ready. Poured, level and cured. If it is not, we can stage the shed and come back, but that is a second trip.
Rigging a finished building
A shed is not a solid block, and that is the part people underestimate. It has to be picked from points that carry the frame rather than the skin, or it racks in the air and the door never closes right again. If the dealer has provided lift points or a rigging spec, send it. If not, we will look at the construction and rig it off the frame.
Moving an existing shed within a property works the same way, though an older building that has been sitting on grade for years needs a look first. Sometimes the honest answer is that it will not survive the lift, and we would rather say that on the phone than halfway up.
